Ashtanga Yoga a system of yoga transmitted by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This dynamic method of yoga emphasizes on vinyasa (synchronizing the breath and movement), dristhi (where you place your look when in asana) and ujjayi breath (the Victorious Breath). The practice always begins with Surya Namaskars and is followed by a complete series of postures. The purpose of this method is internal cleansing through a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.
Anugraha studied at The Yoga Institute, Mumbai. Under the guidance of Dr. Jaydev and Mrs. Hansa Jaydev who taught her that “Yoga” was not all about Asanas……but a way of life!
Along the way she has been extremely fortunate to have been taught and influenced by some of the best teachers in the world...... Javed Khansalar, Deepika Mehta, Mark Robberds, Mohan Bhandari, Kishan Shah, Maya Rao…….
They have all played a very important role in who she is today and have helped her discover the many positive and healing aspects of this profound practise, that has helped her move ahead on this journey of personal freedom, peace and bliss!
Anugraha teaches the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary series. She also teaches a Vinyasa style which is inspired by Ashtanga and Iyengar style yoga, where postures flow with the breadth to build heat in the body with a focus on alignment and multiple dimensions of the body.
